hee, now imagine if I had seen that painting on my trip mechtild :) fans self*

I have to say I like the first one for fannish reasons, the Morpheus looks more human to me (in a Frolijah sense)

Oh, I think he's extra Frodo-ish, Cat. What a face, and look at those bonny cheeks and lips! Those dark, shiny curls! That luscious smooth skin! Yessss......

But just as a picture, I think I like the little one at the bottom the best. I do like its "classic book of myths and legends" look very much. Morpheus is the least Frodo-looking in that one, but his colouring is right. And, as was pointed out in a comment above, the feet inside his sandles even appear to be hairy! It's a useless illustration of Aurora and Cephalus, now that I've read the myth's story. I think it was mis-named, and is actually yet another version of Morpheus and Iris.

You say you wished you'd seen this painting (in St. Petersburg) on your trip. Do you meant you got to go to Russia, too, sometime?

oh no dear, I was being to brief I meant in my last museum trip when I saw the Da Vinci here in the states. I would love to go to Russia :)

I too love the storybook feel of the last one, my favorite style of art :) but I have to admit I'm rather spoiled by the models I"ve come to expect in your journal ;)

bonny cheeks indeed!
