yes. I think maybe they did this is a "pick up". Its the look that is different..the way the scene changes in colors. It was off to me. From the time he fell out and then they focused on him fighting Gollum to the end of this it seemed a different Frodo. Then they went bact to him on the passage and his face seemed more like the anguished young face you saw in the Shelob caves. It could have been Elijah trying to work it. But they did have pickups and I think this could have been one.
I could tell that last scene of his. He did look different then. But it worked more because he was supposed to be older then..and so tired and sickly. Of course then you go to the lovely shot of Frodo with Bilbo in the carriage and he looked so amazingly young to me and innocent. I think that is what I saw missing in the pickups..his innocence...because he had really started to mature and grow in this experience and you could see it in subtle ways.
All in all, its still brilliant. It was just that one piece where he is looking down at Gollum and then backs away...
"Frodo: I have to destroy It, Sméagol. I have to destroy It for both our sakes. (Frodo begins to walk on.)"

ps..I have to save all of this because it in itself is a wonderful book and bridge between the book and the movies.

One day, and I've said this before, I hope they will print a log of the shoot, so that we nutty fans and film-scholars can read exactly when this or that shot was filmed. Wouldn't that be great? I'd love then to go through the whole film, in order of shooting, to see how Frodo (and the others!) changed over the years of shooting footage, and developed in their performing skills.

If you are saving these, I am hoping you have been noticing the link at the very bottom of each post that says "all screencaps". That will take you to a page of master links, which then open up the pages of screencaps according to the three films, behind the scenes, etc. I found it to be a big help once I had made so many sets of caps.
