I too love how this scene allows Frodo to save Sam, although I must admit people must have been confused who had not read the book, lol! I always forget that there were actually people who watched the movie that must have been so confused and lost in areas, lol! :-) Well, I hope it just encouraged them to find the book and read it! :-)

My husband is still asking, "Which one is Arawon?" Sounds like a brand of organic rice.

*laughs aloud*

My hubby needed the movies to finally be able to know who was Aragorn and who Boromir! *laughs again*

And I had - as a long time book-reader - no problems with the fact that the cloak made them practically invisible. The only thing that always makes me shake my head is the fact that they don't hide longer... but they want to pass the gate, which makes even this detail more logical.

And I'm glad that we get so see a stronger, protective Frodo here.

You're right, they do leap up well before the soldiers are out of ear or eye-shot. I figured the filmmakers were in a hurry to press on, though, not Frodo and Sam!

Yes, I knew why they were supposed to have magical cloaks as a book reader, but I saw no reason why unread viewers should know that. But Eandme said above that she made that assumption without thinking (that Frodo's cloak was magical), so the filmmakers guessed right.
