Mews, thanks so much for your passionate, thoughtful comments. I will tell Jan you've posted. No, Jan is not on LJ and doesn't expect she ever will be. Not enough time. You and I both know how much time LJ requires if one really is engaged with it as a medium.

Yes, Frodo--especially in his film incarantion--has to deal with a lot of shame. Maybe that's one of the things that made so many of us fall for him? Our own lives seem to involve mutliple shame-making situations. How inspiring and encouraging to see a character who manages to survive worse--and even transcends them.

Dear Mews, as Mechtild has already said, I don't have LJ. (Maybe someday, when I've retired, by which time we'll all be communicating directly by mind-palantirs, no doubt). In any case, Mech was kind enough to pass on your lovely compliment, so I *do* know, and am exceedingly grateful. I must say, though, the poem(s) gain so very much from the framework which holds them: Mechtild's powerful and passionate essays, and the beautifully presented caps. I suppose that is one thing that I enjoy so much about people that love LOTR, who really *get* it: they have an understanding that beauty is geometrically increased by the labour of more than one pair of loving hands.

The saying that goes: "too many cooks spoil the broth" has it entirely wrong. Too many SELFISH cooks spoil the broth. And that is assuredly NOT Ms. Mechtild, our selfless chef.

Thank you so much again, and thanks also to Linda, and not only for the work she has done in order to host these poems, but for the pure, enjoyable passion and brilliance of her continuing conversation.

Re: *blush*

Just so you'll know, Mews, I forwarded your comment on to Jan. You are so good as a supporter of other writers and artists. It is very much appreciated.
