Yes, the films got a lot right for Frodo, even in spite of some of the writing. One day I'm going to make a post apologizing to EW in public, for not giving him more of the credit for what we finally saw on screen.

In the past six months, thinking more on the performance through making the screencap and manip entries, listening to comments of others, and reading Sibley's fascinating book on Peter Jackson as a filmmaker--necessarily saying a lot about how LotR was made--I think I underestimated how much of what we viewers love in film-Frodo is EW himself shining through, rather than the character as written.
