Oh, la la! Anne, I opened your link at last. What a beautiful piece! I love and appreciate the way you explained your method and medium and showed your stages. At every stage it has magic - lovely rendering to start with, and ethereal colour effects. You are so GOOD!

I hope you are going to do an LJ announcement for the piece, or post it at hobbit_art. It should be more widely seen!

P.S. I loved the swirling effect: Frodo in a beautiful vortex. Whatever did you use to do that?

Hi Mechtild.
Thank you for the lovely comments. I'm so pleased that you liked the painting of Frodo.

Maybe I will try to submit it at hobbit_art. Is that an LJ or a website?

The swirly effect is quite lovely, isn't it. It was done using a photo effects programme of my sister's which was on my previous computer - I must borrow her disc to get it onto this computer!

hobbit_art is an LJ community. People can register to be members there (it's automatically approved), then they can post their work, either right in the community's pages, or making a post that merely announces the posted work that is linked to somewhere else (such as in their own LJ's or websites). Below is their link so that you can browse the site and see how it looks. Posting instructions on the community's User Info page:

I don't know how many people look at the entries, but hobbit_art has a big f-list. Also, the admins. for the community usually post an announcement of new entries into the bigger Tolkien LJ community, a sort of online bulletin board, called Middle-earth News ( middleearthnews. That's another place where you can let people know about new work as long as it's Tolkien-related. A lot of people subscribe to it. You should check out that site, too. In that community, you don't post your entry there; you email a blurb to them according to their format, and they post your blurb (with a link) in the next newsletter. The intstructions are on the User Info page:
