I francescani celebrano J.R.R.Tolkien

L'invito è aperto a tutti.

I'm a godless heathen pagan and I wasn't offended. Of course, nothing is really blasphemous to me either unless somebody says something rude about Frodo. ;-)
Your comparison was extremely interesting. How observant you are! That scene meant nothing to me really till now (Except thank heavens Bilbo gave him the shirt!! And How in the world did he keep a shiny thing like that secret this long in the close company of everybody with no privacy to speak of? These must be VERY modest guys.)
I did notice Frodo's humility in the book though. Of course if he looked like he does in the movie he not only looks right in it.. he should wear nothing BUT mithril. (preferably nothing.)
Thank you for the caps!!! The right button on my mouse is smoking.

The right button on your mouse is smoking? Ha! That made me howl. You know, Taerie, I think it was a German-speaking Frodo fan who told me that she found all the remarks about computer mouses hilarious because "mouse" in German was a euphemism for the female pudenda. I guess it's comparable to "pussy" in English. I'd rather have my sexual parts associated with felines than rodents (although mice can be awfully cuuuuuute).

You don't have to believe religious claims to find religious motifs and themes moving, I think. I didn't believe anything religiously for the first 33 years of my life, yet I had always responded to religious art and loved old bible movies.

That's a good point, wondering how Frodo kept the mithril shirt a secret all the way from Rivendell. That was a few weeks. It just goes to show that Frodo couldn't have been running around starkers at any time. I guess like the "Full Monty" guys who kept their hat on, he just kept his shirt on.
