Waves to Whiteling and asks: I hope you don’t mind that I have included a little of our conversation, if you do please let me know and I will delete it. : - )

As much as I would love to, I can’t take the credit for finding and showcasing Whiteling’s beautiful ‘Estë the Gentle’.

In March of this year I mentioned, in a post at KD, that it was two years ago, (March 2nd 2004) that I first discovered the Harem. It took me until June of the same year to join in the fun.

Whiteling PMd me at KD saying that she wished to share a new drawing with me. She told me that ever since I (Estë) had come to the Harem’s message board she had liked my user name and had loved the sound of it.

Whiteling said that she had been inspired by the description of Estë:

She is the Lady of Healing and of Peace. She seems to listen inwards, and she seems perfectly content and peaceful.

Whiteling also mentioned that her drawing is reminiscent of the style of Bernardino Luini 1480-1532 (an Italian Renaissance painter, a scholar of the great Leonardo).

This is a little of what I wrote to Whiteling:

Dear Whiteling,

That drawing is beyond beautiful – and beyond any words I could find to do it justice.

You have drawn her to perfection; she really gives an impression of otherworldly inner contentment and serenity.

I chose the name because I thought her qualities would be useful at BEWTE […]

Your drawing is far too beautiful to not share with others – I hope you do. I love it so much. And later I hope I may use it as my new avatar at the Harem - and with your permission also on my LJ. […]

I read somewhere that those in the world, that are gifted in the arts are the decedents of the few elves that remained on Middle-earth. You must surely be one of them.

P.S. I put the handle Tangletoes on my LJ name because I did not want to appear above myself. I’m a hobbit at heart.

There are many here on LJ that are without a doubt the descendents of the Elves.

Oh, wow, Este! What a wonderful story. You both are such special, gifted women -- and gifts to me (and to many). I opened the link to the work of Bernardino Luini. Wow! I know some of these and I agree so much. The bottom one on the page, Portrait of a Woman from 1525 is at the museum I hung around in for a year, skipping my college classes, back in the '70's. (National Gallery in Wash., D.C.). When I get home from work today (I'm about to leave), I'm going to put the link and note in an ETA to the post.

Thanks fo much for sharing this!

Waves to Estë and says: Of course I don't mind! :-)
See, it is wonderful that you chose such a lovely user name - without that I wouldn't have drawn her.
Luini's women bear a strong resemblance to Leonardo's, but they have their own enthralling beauty and inwardness which I like very much. Drawing Estë's portrait was sheer meditation.
Thank you so much for leading me to her. ((((Estë Tangletoes))))

Have a look at my ETA, Whiteling, please, and tell me if I ought to adjust anything for better reporting. I want to make sure it does you and Este's story justice. Thanks!

P.S. I'll be sending you an email with a request. :)

Super ETA, Mechtild. There's nothing to add.
Thank YOU. :-)
