A philosopher once said something along these lines:

That beauty in the natural world stirs a vague recollection in the soul. - The beauty of a thing on Earth being only an imperfect copy of that which is perfect in Heaven – and that when we see something of exceptional beauty, the soul remembers where it originated from and longs to return.

One could almost believe that Frolijah has slipped through the invisible-boundary as a wonderful reminder for us.

Thank you Mechtild for these. You are very kind to do this.

Oh, Este, that is so wonderful and moving! And it is also very much in line with this quote: "Every beauty which is seen here below by persons of perception resembles more than anything else that celestial source from which we all are come."
Michelangelo (1475 - 1564) Italian painter, sculptor, architect, poet

I love being reminded of the celestial source of beauty by cherub Frolijah.

Just beautiful, Este; and true. I wonder if that comes from Plato? If not, someone else imbued with Plato's understanding. He really does seem, as Frodo, to offer us a glimpse. What what else does his "inner light" point to? That light, surely, is the same light that is supposed to shine from the faces of the "High" or "Light" Elves -- because they have been in the presence of the pure light of the Two Trees, standing for divine light, in Valinor.

I'll have to check that one out.

I really must read up on Plato - he seems like a real savvy guy. :-D

Thank you!

You are so right, Alyon.

I am at a hotel right now, trying to get a jump on looking at my accumulated mail. I saw in a K-D thread (The Faculty?) that you were just visited your "little one" (not so little, ey?) at college down in L.A. I hope it was a happy occasion. Well, I am sure it was!

Thank you so much, Mechtild, for all those beautiful glimpses of heaven you allow by means of showing us Angelijah... alleluia.

"Beauty is a form of genius -- is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. It is of the great facts in the world like sunlight, or springtime, or the reflection in dark water of that silver shell we call the moon."

Now how did Oscar Wilde write that, not having seen Frolijah?

I'm in a hotel peeking at my mail. I hope to be home soon. *smooch*

How could I miss this?!! What to say ? It's all said above.
He's beautiful, ethernal and breathtaking.
I was staring for HOURS and I can't explain why they (Frodo AND Elijah) always touch my heart and my soul so much. Answer needed? No, not really.
I just let it happen.
If I would be face to face to them, I wouldn't dare to touch this face.
Thank you mechtild for this gorgeous caps, another time you made my night lovey.
*hugs you very tightly*

I agree. These really are special. There are a thousand gorgeous screencaps of Elijah as Frodo out there, but these are spell-binding.
