Miscellaneous Journal Entries ~ page of links:

Because I like to be able to find my entries when I am looking for them, I have decided to make a "table of links" for miscellaneous LJ entries, just as I have done for the Frodo and Elijah screencaps, BBM screencaps, Frodo Art Travesty entries, and the Frodo Art Travesty album of images. I have found those tables exceedingly helpful. As with those tables of links, I will be keeping a link to this page in the “Links List” (in the left-hand margin of the main page of any journal entry). This is more for my use than yours, but I thought I’d let folks know it exists.

I like your tables!

You're so good at organising material ... but then you ARE a librarian! :)

So many good posts here. :)

I've added to my memories. :)
mechtild at 2006-05-07 22:49 (UTC) (Link)
Thanks, Pearl. Actually, I think all the best posts happened presenting art work ("Ha! You call that ART?") and screencaps. But, sometimes, I have spent forever scrolling through this stuff looking for someone's comment or a remark. "I just know so-and-so linked that website in the post about the Canova Cupid and Psyche -- but when was that?" "Where did I post that manip by Green Ghost? Wasn't it in the post about Harry Potter fic? That must have been a year ago!"

I tried using the tags, but what good are they unless an entry is available with a matching tag, since they can't be looked up in a list and clicked? I tried using the calendar ("Archives") but you have to click open every sodding day. What good is that?

The "table of links" method seems to work best so far.

The group in the above pic look like they're playing poker. Gandalf: Stop trying to read my cards, Thorin, I know you haven't got a full deck.
/irreverent thought.
mechtild at 2006-05-08 14:00 (UTC) (Link)
They probably are. Or some similar M-E game. I hadn't thought of it before, but if they had tea and tobacco and sausage fry-ups, they probably had cards, too.

Thorin, I know you haven't got a full deck.

Estë (or ST for short)

Thank you Mechtild.

Peachy, what's the betting Gandalf wins!
mechtild at 2006-05-08 14:01 (UTC) (Link)
You are welcome!

Peachy, what's the betting Gandalf wins!

I'm on. (But, as a maia, wouldn't it be sort of like cheating? Oh, he'd just say, "Even I don't know all ends -- or hands."
aussiepeach at 2006-05-08 14:22 (UTC) (Link)
Heheheh. Unless it was strip poker, in which case they would see Gandalf the Grey uncloaked...
mechtild at 2006-05-08 14:53 (UTC) (Link)
And wouldn't they be impressed! "Maia, oh, maia, Gandalf!"

Oh, O.K.: lame, lame, lame.

You know, looking at that illustration again, I'd say it was Bilbo who would be stripped first. He looks pretty darned glum.
mariole at 2006-05-08 18:09 (UTC) (Link)
*snerk* I love lame jokes!
pearlette at 2006-05-08 18:36 (UTC) (Link)
Let me just say that I never want to see Gandalf 'uncloaked'.

(Joke amongst the British Haremites:

Q: "What does Gandalf have under his robes?"

A: "More robes!!!!!")

pearlette at 2006-05-08 18:37 (UTC) (Link)
Frodo uncloaked, on the other hand ...

Why look, he's in a hurry to disrobe already! *points to icon*

Dear me, so enthusiastic ... *titter*
mechtild at 2006-05-08 22:02 (UTC) (Link)
Nope, no way. If Gandalf can't play strip poker, neither can Frodo. Like mentor, like ... what is the person who has a mentor? A "mentee"?
mechtild at 2006-05-08 22:01 (UTC) (Link)
Hey, I'm telling Ian McKellen you dissed his physique.

Oh, just kidding.

I won't tell him. It would hurt his feelings. He's a proud man.
mariole at 2006-05-08 18:08 (UTC) (Link)
Thanks, Mech!
mechtild at 2006-05-08 22:05 (UTC) (Link)

Thank YOU. It was at your LJ, trying to wade my way to the beginning of Devoted that I first saw the charm and utility of a "Table of Links" page.

"Wow!" I thought. "This is GREAT! And she's linked it after every chapter!" I never forgot what an aid and courtesy it was to me as your reader.
mariole at 2006-05-08 22:23 (UTC) (Link)
Well, it was only because I was so long-winded. Really, I hadn't any idea it would turn into the massive project it did. Thanks for all your comments!
mechtild at 2006-05-08 23:35 (UTC) (Link)
You weren't long winded. As Treebeard said, you used as many words as it took to say what you had to say. (Or he said SOMETHING like that.)

And, unlike Merry and Pippin's experience listening to Treebeard's recitations, there was never a dull moment for your readers.

A lot of intresting things :)
mechtild at 2015-06-04 01:58 (UTC) (Link)
Ah! Hello, again. This table of links is not specific to LOTR entries, although there are a few things that cross over. You'll find specifically LOTR posts through these tables for screencap posts below:

Each heading opens to individual pages showing all the entries according to which LOTR film the screencaps are from, as well as the "Behind the Scenes" extras. Many feature poems by jan-u-wine, which will be noted on the pages of links.

The page linked below shows all the art manip posts featuring the face of Frodo, many of them showcasing the poems of jan-u-wine:
