Ennis finding a slaughtered sheep, as tangible confirmation that he has done wrong.

That slaughtered sheep was a powerful image. To me, it symbolized Ennis' deepest fears. Later, we see the man who was dragged to death. His sprawled posture to me reminded me of the splayed limbs of the sheep, its essentials torn out. How that must have haunted Ennis. I think the sheep subconsciously reminded him of his deepest fears: This is how you will end up, if you keep doing this.

Oooh, really, really good Mariole. I'll bet you aren't the only one who leapt at that. You are right. The position of the bodies was very similar.

Again, having re-read and re-read the short story to present these caps, how differently the two presented the same love story, even if the details, even dialogue were so much the same.
