Enjoy the change of scenery, Mechtild, and I think it might be beneficial if you try not to think about your story too much. If you let it lie fallow in your mind for a while you might find vigorous green shoots thrusting their way through the soil when you get back to it ... well, I think I let that metaphor carry me away. lol.

I just had an exciting thought: you know I'm newly into bookbinding: how cool would it be to print and bind 'Threshold' when it's finally finished? I feel a little faint at the thought of all that ink and paper, but ... wouldn't you love to hold it all in your hands and see it sitting on your bookshelf?

Threshold, bound????

Mariole, if it weren't so many pages, I really would print it. But I just know I'm going to change it the next time I read through it, so I can't bring myself to do it.

But, oh, Scarlet, to have it bound; that would be toooo lovely? But ONLY when it is all done and been through the very LAST revision possible. It's my only child. I actually had thought I would want it printed in the end, I love it so. On lovely, creamy paper, to match its hero's fineness.
But when you mentioned your own new foray into bookbinding, did you mean it as a project for yourself? Did I understand that properly?

Re: Threshold, bound????

I'm only a beginner bookbinder, so I fear I would be unequal to the task - at present. Yet come the day you declare, "It is quite finished", who knows? :) Still, you might prefer to find someone closer to home to do the job. We'll see: in the meantime, keep it in mind, and so shall I!

Re: Threshold, bound????

Scarlet, that is so lovely an offer. Especially fter seeing images of the book you have been making, I would be absolutely thrilled. I was picturing something very plain, of course, were I to have it done. I just wanted nice paper and a typeface that looked "classic." (One of these days I'll figure out how to make my LJ have some other typeface, too; I don't like this "modern"-looking one.) What about the cover? Is the cover made before or after all the pages are made?

I'm getting ready to leave this morning. Our tornado warning was cleared last night, so I hope the plane doesn't crash! It's still very windy out.

Adieu, Mechtild
