Hey Mech, I'll make up a little something for that screen cap with Frodo in the flowers and the lighting guy! :D

Lighting Guy: (to the Haremite waiting off-screen) Like this?
Haremite: ...a bit lower.
Lighting Guy: ...here?
Haremite: Just a tad more...
Lighting Guy: Um..
Frodo: *shifts*
Haremite: Allow me! *aquires object from Guy, holds it to Frodo JUST so*
Lighting Guy: W-ell, I...guess I'll just go check on...something...
Haremite: Aaaaand - ACTION!

Isn't Lembas a scream, Estë? That's how she got Frodo to win "Man of Middle-earth" last year, on TORc.

I don't know, Lembie-Bembie, that object the lighting guy is holding up may be giving a "no action" reading, judging from the look on Frodo's face. I remember watching a horror movie from the 80s (wish I'd never seen it; the murder scene still haunts me, although the film had laughs in it, too), called "Body Double," starring young Melanie Griffiths. She's a soft-core porn star and she's in a studio canteen talking up her work to a fellow actor.

Melanie: "And so I do a sort of exotic dance in it. Was I good, too."
Actor: "Really?"
Melanie: "Yeah. It was a number 10 on the peter meter."

Perhaps the lighting guy is not a lighting guy at all. Perhaps he works for the Haremites. And Frodo does not look as though he got a number 10 on the peter meter.

Peter meter Guy: "Not much happening. Sorry, Fro'."
Frodo: "Hmm?"
PMG: "I say, there's not much happening. You're only at 3. Can't you crank it up a little? This is a Harem film, after all."
Frodo: "Oh, right. Mmm. I know. You lasses, over there. If you might just lift your skirts, turn around, and bend over."
Lasses: "Like this?"
Frodo: "That's good. Now, wave your fannies back and forth. Ah... That's even better."
PMG: "Oh -- oh -- it's working, Fro'. You're up to a 7."
Frodo: "Only a 7? Lasses, hands and knees."
PMG: "Wow, you're going to bust the meter, little fella! Did I say, 'little'? Hey - wait - where you going? What about the shot?"

I agree with you wholeheartedly Mechtild, Lembas is a scream.

You’re doing quite well yourself in the scream department.

Dare I mention it? Oh! go on Est you know you want to. Oh! alright then if you insist *rolls eyes *

British definition of fanny: noun. the female genitals. Its use may cause confusion in the U.s. where it means the buttocks. :D

You can delete this if it’s too naughty :)

Estë, yes, you may certainly mention it. I am wondering if the U.S. is antique, do you think? I mean, Dickens would not have named his admirable heroine (Ebenezer Scrooge's sister) "Fanny," if it mean the same thing as "pussy" in that century. There were other nineteenth century literary heroines named Fanny, too.

In this spoof, I meant it both ways, considering the view that the lasses were presenting to 'Light Check Frodo'. I considered saying "arse" (U.S., "ass") but I decided, no, what they really were waving was both.

There is a Fellini movie ("Who's Fellini, Mommy?") that was kind of a dud, about Casanova (starring Donald Sutherland, not a good casting decision for the role), that had a scene I'll never forget. In it, Casanova is between the legs of a rich but unattractive matron and is having difficulty getting an erection. He signals to his mistress, a playful sort who happens to be lurking for this purpose. She enters the room quietly. The sighing matron can't see her, but Casanova can. The audience's view is oblique, but she is giving him the Haremite eyefull: skirts up, bum exposed, bent over while she wags her fanny=bum, and fanny=genitalia, all at the same time. The view has a very salutary effect on Casanova, who manages to perform properly for the rich matron.
