Thanks, dear. One of these days I'll catch up. I've been away so much this fall and December. Oi! I just finished baking my last cookies in a very truncated baking list. Got my cards out WED. Shocking. Cleaned house. Company have arrived. I think I've made it under the wire!!!

Thank you, Maeglian. I've been awfully busy, off LJ. But I'm glad to be able to stop in for a holiday greeting!

Magic would be very much appreciated at this point, I am so far behind in my holiday duties, Shirebound! *smooch*

LOL! Thank you, dear! I'm glad you got it in time (I wasn't sure about that) :-)) And yes, we are very happy.

Happy Holidays, Mechtild. Thank you for all the wonderfulness you have shared throughout the year. It really helps to keep the fandom alive, and I do so appreciate it. *hug*

Happy Christmas, Primula. I haven't been much present this last half of the year, too busy, but Jan's written some things I hope to post. Thanks for your thoughtful, steady comments!

Oh wow!!!!!!!!!1 It gives thought to the imagination on fire in his mind. So many details...even to little foot prints. I didn't know he did this type thing. Its lovely and thank you and hugs you so close xoxoxoxo v

He made marvelous illustrated letters for his children for years, Verangel. Yes, that was a fertile, fire-up imagination the man had, and varied ways of expressing it. Lucky us! I didn't know the extent of it until I got a Tolkien Christmas book a couple of years ago.

Here are links to posts I did last Christmas and the Christmas before about Tolkien's Christmas letters, which have some brief extracts and copies of selected fave illustrations....

Moley, what a beautiful icon. I love it. One of these days when things slow down in my life I mean to catch up with my f-list. In the mean time, a very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Mechtild. :) I sent you a PM. ;)

I'm in Norfolk over Christmas and online time will be restricted. So here are my best wishes and warm prayers for a peaceful and joyful Christmas.

I love the Tolkien piccy. Really lovely. :)

Have a BEAUTIFUL Christmastide, Pearl. Earlier today while I was prepping the Big Dinner (the big dinner and present-giving at our house, when every year we have my husband's family over -- of Finnish-Swedish background, is on Christmas Eve, not Christmas day, the way it was at our house as a child), I was listening to some English church's version of the nine lessons and carols. At one point a woman's voice perked up my ears. She was reading a lesson and sounded a lot like you, now that I've heard you. I ran to the radio and listened more closely but it wasn't you. Pretty exciting for a minute, though!

How I love your Luthien icon. I know I've asked you before, but who made it? I'd like to ask if I can copy and use it. It's so beautiful. I love that photo of Edith. I'll bet Ronald did too. :)
pearlette at 2011-12-25 01:32 (UTC) (Link)
Ha, no, that wasn't me, I've never been on the radio. :)

The person who made the Edith/Luthien icon is a Finnish poster called nerwende - her LJ site is swanboat_icons. She's not very active now but back in the day she made hundreds of exquisite LotR-related icons. She's also a Snape fan! I have quite a few by her. Click on my user profile, go to user pics and you will see the full list of my icons with each icon-maker credited in the link to their LJ. It's always polite to ask someone's permission but Nerwende, like many icon-makers, puts up her icons for use by anyone, on the condition that she is credited. I always provide the link to the icon-maker's LJ.
'Never to return' is another one by her, based on John Howe's painting of the Ring-bearers' ship leaving the circles of the world. The image and the caption fill me with melancholy.

I find that photo of Edith remarkably moving. She looks so young and pretty and fresh. Forever young, she is immortalised in that timeless picture and the beautiful Elvish name her husband graced her with.

I went to her site and commented, she commenting back re: my appreciation. Thanks so much for heading me in the right direction, Pearl. :)

This is a great picture! I hope you and jan-u-wine had a wonderful Christmas and Happy Yule to you both!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Hey, I missed this, Antane. Happy Christmas! Well, it's still the Twelve Days of Christmas until Epiphany, so I'm within the season. :)
