Thanks for letting us know about this, Mechtild and many congratulations to Jan on her nominations. I've never heard of these awards before and will definitely follow the link and take a look round asap. I'd actually intended to do that much earlier but first of all I went to read the two poems of Jan's on the LOTR Scrapbook (so beautiful) and from there I followed the link to Fellowship of ME site which I'd never seen before (how did I miss that?) and spent far longer than I'd intended having a good look round there!!

I am not sure of the history of the MEFA competition, but I have thought it came out of the Henneth Annun archive and fanfic communtiy, which sponsored the writing and reviewing of Tolkien-based fanfic over the years (not just LotR, but any Tolkien work). A lot of people from your f-list have had fics nominated at the MEFA's over the years, or I believe so.

Anyway, thanks so much for coming over to congratulate Jan. I would love more fans to have a chance to read her work.

thank you so much, dear Paulie! Btw, while you are on the Scrapbook site, I hope you'll look at other writing archived there. There are some absolutely wonderful fics and essays there. (I also have some prose work on the site, if you are interested). In regard to the "Fellowship" site, this site was founded after Decipher (who hosted the original fan-site for the movies) dropped the ball on keeping the LOTR fan-dom properly fed and watered, as it were. Some of the mods from the Decipher site went off on their own and formed "Fellowship". It really is a great little community, though I don't have time to visit any longer. I hope that you will, though, and, if so, please give them my loving regards. take care!
