Here Tolkien's Faramir returns: strong and steady and utterly dependable, plain-spoken yet poetic, contemplative and tender.

Well said. This is a beautiful scene, in both book and film.

As usual, the poem is exquisite and full of soaring hope. :)

You are so gracious, Shirebound; you and Faramir would have really hit it off! :)

It is full of soaring hope, isn't it? And it's so right for that pivotal moment: hope kindled and rising just when things looked darkest, their lives and every life hanging in the balance.
